FAQs About Sites at Greenbrier Campground
Can I put a tent on a site with my RV or next to my cabin/bell tent rental?
No. Tents need to be on their own tent site.
Can I have a screened gazebo on my site or a tent over my picnic table?
Yes. If the gazebo/tent doesn’t have a floor, you can place it anywhere on your site. If it does have a floor, then it cannot be placed on the grass. Any tent that is for sleeping will need to be on its own site.
Can I tent camp on an RV site?
No, you must rent a designated tent site for tent camping.
My tent is larger than the 16x16 tent pad. Can I still put my tent on the site?
Yes, if the tent isn’t considerably larger than the tent pad. Keep in mind that the tent pad is bordered by landscape timbers so you may be uncomfortable in a larger tent. Our river tent pads are a bit larger at 20x25.
Can I have more than one tent on my site?
On tent pad sites (sites 100-108) there is a maximum of 2 tents, and both must fit on the 16x16 pad. There is a maximum of 2 tents on the tent friendly RV sites.
Do you allow car camping?
No. We do not allow any car camping, including electric cars.
What kind of site do I need if my tent attaches to my car or it’s a rooftop tent?
You will need to book an RV site. If your tent sits on the ground, it will need to be a tent friendly RV site. If it’s a rooftop tent, then you can stay on any RV site.
What is the Site Lock?
When you book a site, you are primarily booking a site “type” such as Premium On-River or Standard Off-River. However, if you want a specific site number, then you will need to lock your site. If you do not lock the site number, then it is possible that the system will change your site number. It will not change the site type, nor will it give you a site that is too small for your RV. Our staff does not make these changes, it is an algorithm within our system that makes these changes. * If you are with a group of three or more RV sites, there is no charge for locking sites so that you can be next to each other, but you will need to let the staff know so we can add a group status to your reservations. For a list of site numbers and their type, click here.
Do you have buddy sites?
We do not, but if you or a “buddy” have a Class A, B, or C and your hookups will reach, you are welcome to pull into your site as opposed to backing in. You’ll need to have longer hookups to reach the same pedestal.
Can I use a portable pet fence?
Yes!
Do I need quarters for the laundry?
You can use quarters, or you may use a credit card. The laundry room across from site 79 accepts both quarters and credit cards. There is a quarter machine in this laundry room, and it accepts $1s, $5s, $10s, and $20s. There is also a dispenser for Tide washing powders and Snuggle dryer sheets, which only takes quarters. Tide and Snuggle is also available for purchase in the store with a credit card. There is a second laundry room near the camping cabins, and it only accepts quarters. We also have quarters in the office, but we do not offer cashback options. The laundry rooms are open 24/7 with a code. Average cost for laundry is around $7 per load.
What’s in the game room?
The game room has several arcade games, a TV, and board games all for free. The game room is open until 10pm. Starting at 10pm it is the security personnel office.

Do you refill propane?
We do not. We sell or exchange 20 LB tanks. The closest place that refills propane is ACE Hardware and it’s about 5 miles from the campground on the way to Gatlinburg. Do keep in mind that ACE has a very small parking lot, so you will need to take your propane tanks there without your RV.
Can we check in early or have a late check out?
We do not allow early check-ins. Check-in time for RV and tent sites is 1pm. Check-in time for all rentals is 3pm.
Occasionally, late check-out is possible. This is entirely dependent upon availability and time of year and is at the discretion of management. You cannot request a late check out ahead of time. Please inquire at the office on the day of departure to see if late check-out is possible.
Can I have visitors?
Yes. There is no charge for visitors, but please have them stop by the office to get a car tag and for instructions on where to park. Vehicles without a car tag are subject to towing at the owners’ expense.
What do I need to do if I will be arriving late?
For guests who have not arrived by the time the office closes, we will automatically leave your late check-in packet on the table in front of the check-in window at the office. Office hours vary throughout the season; please do not rely on Google or Facebook for accurate office hours. Quiet time starts at 10pm, so please try to arrive prior to that time to allow for set-up without disturbing your neighbors. If you arrive after quiet hours, please do a very minimal set-up until the following morning. TENT CAMPERS: No arrivals after 10pm. Please plan to arrive and be set up by 10pm.
What does “quiet hours” mean? Do I have to be inside my RV at that time?
Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am. You don’t have to go inside, but all music, TV noise, talking, etc. must be kept to a minimum. Please be considerate of your neighbors. Quiet hours are enforced by staff and security personnel. If they must speak with you more than once about any disturbance, you may be asked to leave immediately without a refund. Security personnel can be found in the game room between 10pm and 2am.
Do you have a Lost & Found?
Yes. Check with the office staff if you have lost anything.
Can you print a parking pass or other document for me?
Yes! We are happy to print any documents for you. Just stop by the office and let us know.
Can I bring my UTV/Side-by-side, ATV, etc.?
ATVs, gas-powered mini-bikes, or anything similar are not allowed to be driven at the campground. We do allow UTVs, but they are not allowed to be driven in the manner of a golf cart around the campground, such as cruising, shuttling, or bath house trips. The county does allow them to be driven on all roads if they are street legal.
Can I bring my golf cart?
Yes, personal golf carts (gas or electric) are allowed. There is no fee, but you must register your golf cart at check-in and show proof of proper liability insurance.
Can I fish at the campground?
Yes, guests may fish around the campground. You will need a TN fishing license and an all-species license, also known as a trout stamp. Please do not walk through occupied sites to access the river. Children ages 12 and under do not need a license.
Do you have issues with bears in the campground?
Thankfully, not often. Rarely do we have any issues with bears being a nuisance around the campground, mostly due in part to the staff keeping the dumpsters bear proof and our guests doing their part in keeping food and garbage out of their reach. To help keep bears (and other garbage loving critters) wild and away from your campsite, please observe the following:
- Do not leave garbage outside at night. Dispose of all garbage every evening in the dumpsters and re-chain the lids.
- Do not leave food unattended at your site. Store all food and drinks inside your RV. If you are tent camping, the best place is to store it in your car.
- If you have any food or garbage inside your car, be sure to LOCK your doors. Bears have learned to open car doors. We hear numerous stories every year of bears entering cars, getting trapped when the door closes, and destroying the interior.
Are you open year-round?
Almost. We close for about 6 weeks between January and February. We usually close down a few days after New Years and reopen the second week of February.
